NOVEMBER 2019 - KRUGER

Before our one-year 'Wildcard' (which allows us free entry into almost of South Africa's national parks) expires in mid-November, we thought it foolish not to have a few days in Kruger.  We hired a little van (sleeping inside this time - for those of you used to seeing a roof tent - and with even a loo!)

A few shots of our first few days...

as it got hotter and hotter, peaking at 43 degrees (day-time only, luckily)

And then - hurrah - we were joined by Fiona and Gordon, who detoured from their Cape Town/wine region trip and hired a twin vehicle to travel around with us for a few nights.  Convoy!  And they were definitely a lucky charm - never seen a leopard up close, but - first morning we set out...

What a stunner

We decided he perhaps wasn't too old, as his hunting technique left a bit to be desired...

and he stalked off, presumably still hungry

We spent three nights, pootling between rest-camps

Amazing variety

Oh dear...

And, an unusual sighting - a honey badger...

And some interesting co-habitants

Even a hyena looks cute at the right angle

Two brothers, hanging out

and one helping out the other who seems to have a nasty injury

Next stop out of Kruger is across the border to eSwatini
